knowing your power

One of the things we don’t talk about enough is “knowing your power”.

As always shared, Of Valor was built because I waned to constantly remind people of their power. Be it through jewellery, posters, cards and other lifestyle pieces coming up - the goal was to continuously enforce the message of knowing one’s power - in other words, your value, purpose and calling if you will.

I also recognise that a lot of our identity and self-worth stem from our beliefs and things we say to ourselves. If we are constantly saying things that puts us down, guess how’s our body going to respond? What would our outlook of our lives be?

Honestly, from Day 0, society has carved the person we are. Whatever is fed or taught to us has largely become our reality. What we aren’t taught enough is learning how our gifts can add value to the world which in turns gives us a great sense of fulfilment and peace. What we aren’t taught enough is the power of our words.

Suddenly, we are walking on paths that are deemed best for us because our realities played out as so. We accept the chips that fall and keep at it because that we think we have to - because we are already in it and it is what we know. We have been taught to blend in and well, “adapt”.

How can we take a moment to step out of ourselves and review our realities? How can we lean more into what truly drives our purpose? Everyone is born with their own unique gifts and talents, and knowing your power is realising that you WILL be different and the value you bring to the table is always going to be different.

It doesn’t have to big moves. Small steps compounds. For me? It really started with the words I repeated to myself in my head. What I kept saying to myself really cemented how I felt about me, my life and the circumstances I found myself in.

In 2021, I realised I couldn’t settle with being unhappy, uncomfortable (not in a way that I wanted that would lead to growth… but led to growth anyway), and so in lack of peace. The healing process of cutting loose from anything that didn’t serve me or held me back gave me the chance to start watching what I meditated on; what I spoke forth into my life. It slowly built my readiness to accept the person I am and made me realise what I could do, even if it was small. If I could make a difference/help someone, I wanted that to happen.

Now, I have to be honest. For me, God played a huge role. He steered the way and equipped me along the way; and one of those ways? Exactly this - speaking forth good things; everything that I hope Of Valor does for people. Speaking good over yourselves, reminding yourselves of your power.

To reiterate, small steps. Start with repeating 1 to 2 liners. It could start from a place of gratitude. It could start with declaring what you hope to see for yourself, e.g. “I got good memory, my mind is sharp”. Keep it simple, it’s ultimately the belief that you are conditioning your mind, body and heart to adopt.
